Let’s break it down.
71004 LEGO Minifigures Series 12: THE LEGO MOVIE.
William Shakespeare – Brilliant new headpiece and uncommon ruffle. Great prints.
Gail the Construction Worker – Has that helmet/hair combo, so that’s good.
Panda Guy – Freaky amount of win. This looks to be the sleepy head’s teddy bear repainted all panda style
Abraham Lincoln – Stovepipe hat and new beard ( pretty sure this wasn’t one of the dwarf beards… ) Sorry, crazybricks, you don’t have the corner market on that hat now.
Taco Tuesday Guy – Uncommon sombrero in new design and lovely prints
Larry the Barista – Looks like new hair? Is that cup a new element? Nice, neutral and useful prints
President Business – omg the hair, I need dozens
Calamity Drone – I was seriously hoping we’d see that great hair/hat pin combo outside of Lone Ranger sooner than later, and in a new colour too.
Marsha Queen of the Mermaids – She looks just ducky, that’s not too common hair is a ridiculous colour, and anyone who is collecting mermaids this is a must
Wild West Wyldstyle – One of the hair pieces I’ve most been looking forward to. I’m thinking this will make it’s way into some Paradox creations… Plus, first Elizabeth Banks minifig?
Scribbe-Face Bad Cop – New cop helmet? I’m not up to speed on all the town developments. Not the first Liam Neeson fig…
Velma Staplebot – ~ amazing ~~ hair!
Hard Hat Emmet – If that’s a legit hair/helmet combo then neat!
“Where are my Pants?” Guy – Funny, but not a huge priority because the hair has been in a few figs. Great shirt though.
Mrs. Scratchen-Post – That’s the new cat from last series granny I think, and that lovely hair we first saw with Elizabeth Swan, then in black in Monster Fighters. Funny print 🙂
Wiley Fusebot – Looks like unique hair or.. hat? With a crazy new beard.
I have to give this more thought, it’s a question of how many to get. Too much or a criminal amount?
If that’s not enough, here’s a set pic I came across when trying to figure out who Wyldstyle was:
Cloud Cuckoo Palace (70803)
You may have noticed the new background for the blog, created by Rioforce in celebration of LU’s third birthday. Great job Rio!

edit: Just found this and the post is still fresh so will tack it on.

Lord Business’ Evil Lair (70809)
Thanks for adding the pic as the background! I didn’t know it would be this popular. 🙂
If you want, you can use this version of the picture. It loops better. 😀
The background is fantastic!! You rock rioforce!!
If you use the vignette background, you also may want to set it so it doesn’t loop for the whole page and is either just at the top or follows where you are on the screen.
I was playing with that but if it’s static then you can’t always see the details at the bottom depending on your resolution. I actually have to look at it in a few different places so I can tell first, usually do but was wanting to add it and skipped that step in my impatience 😉 Will tinker with it tonight probably.
WOW.. I feel like my childhood fantasy has finally come to life!!!! This is going to be awesome!!
Plus..Liam Neeson, Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, AND Will Ferrelll?..Amazing!! And how kewl is a double decker couch?
Happy Friday!!!
And they said that the idea was just the worst. 😛
(On an odd note, there are 2 non-LEGO things in the movie so far: Vitruvius’s half-eaten sucker, and the lazer pointer that Wyldstyle was riding…)
During the “Morgan Freeman” subtitle, you can see what appears to be Vitruvius in full wizard garb and legit staff. I bet they are asserting a backstory about how some kid lost his some of Vitruvius’ parts and made due with whatever was handy.
Good eye!!
I got the sense that this is a contained universe, not like Toy Story, so there won’t be kids or recognition of other toys.
Yes, I noticed that 😛
Mrs. Scratchen-Post: Looks like a prototype for the Grandma. I thought t was her from the trailer until I saw this.
Taco Tuesday Guy: Is that Maraca Man’s twin brother? 😛
William Shakespeare: Remake of The Thespian
Marsha Queen of the Mermaids: Again, I thought this was a prototype of the other Mermaid
Other than those remakes, the series look pretty good! I’m disappointed that the move is introducing new bricks instead of the new bricks being in the movie (if you know what I mean). Honest Abe is the one to get in this series. 😀
For myself, and I know that I’m not at in the majority, I look at parts and not the sum first. For most people though I think they still want cool new parts, or interesting variants.
So yes, there are duplicates on a couple of themes but I welcome them. With grandma, Mexican, and thespian, they add needed *variety*
Now you can have different kinds of grandmas, a more colourful Mexican scene, and more medieval ( or who knows… scifi? ) characters. Also, different kind of cat!
I was reading through the eurobricks thread and there was a lot of disappointment which is not surprising as you can’t please everyone and this is a major departure.
I can’t help but think though… LU series could have been made by now…
Each faction leader, 3rd level suit from each faction, NPC from each faction (Coalessa, Numb Chuck, Renee, Beck ) top it off with a Mythran, Shouty, Stromling, Wenn, Naomi Mr. Ree, Icewhisker or Captain Jack Knife.
I’m being nice by adding other faction NPC when of course they could all be Assembly.
I see your point. The Mexican guy has a green hat while the other one has a red hat.
Boy, I’d love to have seen an LU Minifigures series. We should really make a real set (not calling it LU, but everyone who played LU would know it) and submit it to Cuusoo. The only problem is, LEGO won’t make a transparent minifig torso or legs, so no Mythran. (But never mind the dreams and back on topic. 😛 )
Cuusoo will never make it, would have to be a custom set 😉
I’d pay for that…
The LEGO Movie is definitely such a unique movie and certainly one fans are hungering for. It definitely has gotten down to the LEGO aesthetic and pokes humor at ever corner. There is so much detail and so many fan-services in the movie and it appears to be one of those movies you will have to watch over and over again in order to capture all the references and cameos in it. I had to watch the Wyldstyke trailer a few times before I noticed the reference to minifigure noses or lack thereof.
