Here’s a project that could use some more attention, I didn’t find out about it until just now myself.
It’s a LU themed Minecraft texture pack and the crew is making many LU inspired models as well. If you are into Minecraft this would be up your tree.
Here’s a teaser for their Nexus Tower:
Here’s a few Lego sites I’ve come across recently, some of which you might have seen but I don’t think have been posted on this blog before.
I make no secret of what a Friends fan I am, and found this fan blog called Heartlake Friends:
From the blog:
Great way to get the elusive hedgehog. I’ve picked up the turtle and squirrel set, will probably be getting them all eventually.
Here’s some LU sites that I didn’t know about but are still active:
http://lufanon.wikia.com/wiki/LEGO_Universe_Fanon_Wiki – a LU wiki
http://nexusadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Nexus_Adventures_Wiki – a project site, but I think it’s dormant
http://theluproject.forumotion.com/ – a LU/Minecraft forum
http://lustories.wikia.com/wiki/LEGO_Universe_Stories_Wiki – LU fan stories and art
Will add these to the sidebar. Do any of you frequent these sites? See anything missing from the sidebar that should be there?
To it’s credit, the set looks well thought out and faithful to the game. It’s an interesting and modular standard that should really appeal to fans. I won’t cross the road to buy this though, how about you?
It’s the promised land! Lego separated at birth! I’ve ragged on MC before here, but I honestly have nothing against the game at all. I am happy for it’s success and have been following it for years, tried it but found it wasn’t quite for me.
What is interesting right now is how it’s toted as the obvious alternative to LU. Is your construction based mmog closing? Why not Zoidberg? It really is not the same and neither have the same exact appeal.
Now Cuusoo is releasing a Minecraft set and I’m apprehensive about what we’re going to see. If you get a box of basic bricks don’t you have a Minecraft set right there? I don’t really understand the point except to bundle otherwise cheap bricks in an expensive box. I doubt whether there will be any unique bricks or colours, which is a driving force in whether I pick up a set or not. Maybe the target audience doesn’t care about that sort of thing. I’m also curious if they will have minifigs or brick built figs.
I hope the line succeeds because it will be good for innovation and the independent game community but can’t see myself having anything to do with it. How about you?
