Here’s the press release for the new StarWars big figs:
First LEGO® Star WarsTM Large scale Buildable Figures Unveiled at New York Toy Fair
Expanding the way children can build and play within the Star Wars universe, new large scale Buildable Figures unveiled – sets featuring, among others, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker ($19.99 & $29.99 to be launched in September). Additional Buildable Figures in the collection will be unveiled throughout the year. The Battle for the galaxy will get bigger!
These look pretty amazing and very well designed. I’m guessing most people will get them to put on display rather than the parts, but those look pretty interesting as well. I’m anticipating a Boba Fett!
They have been making these types of figures for about a year now with the DC and Chima big figs that were based off the Hero Factory torsos, so this is no real surprise they are going in this direction. I’ve heard some detractors saying this is Galidor all over again which is confuses me on a technical level as they are very removed from that line on a construction standpoint. They are a similar scale and possibly trying to re-crack that action figure market so you can bet they are looking at their own history. Disclaimer: I have a large tote of Galidor in the living room *right now* and it’s still happily played with by my 4 yr old. If anyone has a line on Aquart hook me up.
Something in the mix of all the 2015 Lego that really lit up for me was in this Ant Man set:
They are making Triplo! Our local lug has been a bit Triplo crazy for a bit and now it’s at all our displays, so we are already trying to figure out if those are prints or stickers. The going theory is they are stickers but now I want to print out a sheet of water slide stickers.

Found a picture that answers whether or not Iron Man goes in the Hulk Buster:
Here’s BrickBoy, a vinyl figure from thinkgeek! The head opens up and they have some other motorized parts as well. I’m sure there will be more posts about this in the future.
This is an officially licensed stationery set from Santoro, all clicks together. mmmm.
Here’s a 3rd party Lego compatible adaptor for a product called Sphero which is a ball robot you can control with your smart device.
In Friends news there are pics of the latest sets now which we find our fearless minidolls leave the jungle to go on tour and rock out.
The girls seem to be on tour with their new friend Livi who has some pretty great hair dos. Some interesting new parts in this line include fig gear from headphones to those purples angled plates with a cut away in the centre of that star burst.
I’m more a fan of this big hotel set, bears much further investigation:
Now here’s something to pick up immediately: a Mad Magazine look at Lego
unfortunately it’s not the whole issue, just Sergio kickin it but still
To keep on the publication theme, Jason Freeny is being featured in Popular Science this month!
Finally, how about a closeup of Sebastian. All these little Disney critters are just the best, the simplicity aesthetic and appeal of Disney is captured so well in these models. What other gems does Disney Princess have in store for us?
That’s all for now!
