  1. Couple of thoughts here. First, yea, this has escalated quickly. 😛

Second, the reason this probably came to be was that the Minifig MMO designers designed a game with a 5 to 1 ratio of Chima to different LEGO themed worlds, as it was with NInjago in LU, then just decided to made a whole ‘nother couple of games. That’s logical, right?

Third, the only thing that sounds good about this is the “uncover hidden secrets and treasures, earn rewards, and use LEGO bricks to build weapons, gadgets, and more!” I care extremely little for Ninjago like themes.

  2. I was in Montreal and got an early look at the Chima online game project back in March, and what I saw I found pretty exciting. It looks to provide an engaging play experience with a fun new mechanic for sharing and experiencing player-customized areas.
When comparing probably any two games, they are bound to have a lot in common and a lot of differences, so let’s be clear, it will not be like our beloved and well missed LU property system but still pretty neat if you ask me. Time will tell I suppose, but I for one am looking forward to playing it.

Which brings me to another point.
There is lot of talk about “What will replace LEGO Universe” but In my opinion nothing will, and here is why.
LEGO Universe was many things to many people. A trite saying, but especially true here simply because players in LU could do SO MANY things. Chances are, anyone reading this would have a unique answer to “What was your favorite thing about playing LEGO Universe?”, and so it is impossible for LU to be replaced by anyone…. except it’s players.
We have found our OWN new games and distractions, our own new creative outlets, kart races, epic quests and foes to vanquish, our own replacement treasure hunts, contests, trading markets, rare collectibles, and places to just hang out and be silly.
So really LEGO Universe is both irreplaceable, and already replaced.
    Either way, it’s now immortal.
And if that is true, then anticipating Chima Online and FunCom’s new offering the better question would be…
    “What will FOLLOW LEGO Universe?”
I’m looking forward to finding out.

    • Wow! That’s really neat that you got to see it early. Do you know if the game is supposed to be an MMO or have just some real basic multiplayer type gameplay?

    • Should note, we sort of have a ‘man on the inside’

One of the model builders on the game is a lifelong Canadian AFOL, who was a LUP on the interstellar BrickSnatchers team ( even more illfated that S6 ), and one of the few pre-launch LUPs who actually played the game. He was in Venture faction if memory serves, and he really loved the game too ( as did pretty much anyone who actually played it )

  3. Not a big fan of the idea or aesthetic of the Chima theme… but if the game is fun then that’s great. I don’t want to get my hopes up though.
I hope its graphics and locations are as beautiful as LEGO Universe was.
